  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  6. Punch down the dough, and roll it to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 2-3 inch squares/rectangles.
  7. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry beignet pieces 2-3 mins per side until golden and puffed.
  8. Use a slotted spoon to drain beignets on a paper towel-lined plate.
  9. Dust-cooled beignets with powdered sugar.
  10. Serve warm for a fluffy texture, and have a sweet delight!
